Cinema Nights with Cinema Lamont featuring “The Wiz” by Sidney Lumet

Join us at the Foundation Hotel for a screening of “The Wiz” by Sidney Lumet with Cinema Lamont and The Third Wall. Tickets are $5 and include a salty snack. Cash bar available. Show time is at 8:30pm

Cinema Lamont is a Detroit-based nonprofit that fosters cross-cultural understanding through the power of world cinema. This screening is the last in a series of three films presented by Cinema Lamont at the Foundation Hotel.

Film synopsis: When Harlem schoolteacher Dorothy (Diana Ross) tries to save her dog from a storm, she’s miraculously whisked away to an urban fantasy land called Oz. After accidentally killing the Wicked Witch of the East upon her arrival, Dorothy is told about the Wiz (Richard Pryor), a wizard who can help her get back to Manhattan. As Dorothy goes in search of the Wiz, she’s joined by the Scarecrow (Michael Jackson), the Tin Man (Nipsey Russell) and the Cowardly Lion (Ted Ross).
