Come for the food. Stay for everything else.
Chic yet approachable. Historic while tastefully modern. The Apparatus Room bridges the old and the new, offering iconic New American cuisine rooted in Midwestern ingredients, as well as thoughtful cocktails crafted by accomplished mixologists. We invite you to step away from the Downtown bustle, enjoy a fine meal and the easy taste of an Old Foundation, and relax to the homely chatter of new friends.
We are ready to welcome you back to the Apparatus Room. We will be operating at 50% capacity with tables 6 feet apart, mask requirements and a 11PM curfew. We do ask for your help in abiding by our mask policy of keeping a mask on at all times, except when actively eating or drinking and by ensuring that all parties plan to finish within 90 minutes, so we may honor all reservations for the evening.
Reservations strongly recommended.

A CULINARY MASTER RETURNS HOME
A homecoming years in the making, Chef Thomas Lents’ return to his home state of Michigan signals a new period of culinary innovation in Detroit. Chef Lents has worked all over the world, and during his four years as Executive Chef at Sixteen in Chicago, he attained the immensely coveted two-star Michelin rating. Yet, he also hoped to one day reconnect with the Michigan community while helping local chefs reach their potential. That time is now, and it’s a special one in Detroit, as Chef Lents says he hopes to bring “fuller bellies and fuller futures.”
